No other subject inspires as much mythological fodder as hypnosis. It is surprising that in the information age that many of these myths remain and that people believe to be TRUE. Below you will find the truth behind the 10 most prevalent myths that raises hypnosis.
Myth No. 1
The first ten myths about hypnosis and one that seems to cause the greatest fear among people is the assumption that under hypnosis, you have no control over your mind or your actions. This is simply not true. In a hypnotic state, you become more aware of what you think and feel, but you do not become a puppet for a brilliant hypnotist. A hypnotist may use evocative words to help you focus your attention differently, however, you lose your ability to think for yourself or to monitor your behavior while experiencing hypnosis.
MYTH 2
Hypnosis has ties to satanic practices. Hypnosis has no links with Satanism or satanic ritual whatsoever. Satanic Practices are considered inappropriate to dark demonic connotations. Helping people improve their lives is what hypnosis really is. That is in contrast striking harmful practices that most satanic rituals are composed of.
MYTH 3
Once you enter a hypnotic state, you run the risk of getting stuck in this state permanently. It is almost unbelievable that people still believe, but many people unfortunately do yet, but hypnosis is nothing more than taking a deeper awareness of what you are thinking and feeling. There is not another area of life as some would suggest.
Myth 4
You must be a specific type of personality to be hypnotized. Wrong! In the News we all go into a hypnotic state, almost every night. When we sleep, our conscious mind and unconscious meet and go on events of the day, even more than in the past, creating the dreams that we experience. Even if after waking up you do not recall having had dreams during sleep, research has shown that all humans and animals dream during sleep.
Myth 5
Hypnosis can work with only the most feeble-minded individuals and not for those resistant to hypnosis. In fact, resistance is suggested by the hypnotist many so that people can recognize the experience as their own and not the product of a hypnotist intelligently qualified.
MYTH 6
Hypnosis is simply a clever illusion that has no real utility. Wizards placed forward illusions that confuse the eye and mind are visiting. A hypnotist is trying to dispel any confusion that acts as an obstruction to a person.
Myth 7
Go to a hypnotist when you can learn to hypnotize yourself is a waste of money. Self-hypnosis has its value and may be a safe and effective self-improvement. But self-hypnosis may worsen mental conditions and characteristics such as critical If not, what should really be taken into consideration before writing off hypnotists as a waste of money. Your general health should outweigh financial considerations.
Myth 8
The belief that hypnosis will erase all memory of the experience of hypnosis. Your talents of memory are not alleviated by hypnosis. In fact, hypnosis can be used to help you improve your skills retention and, as mentioned earlier in this article, hypnosis is not another area of life. You do not lose the knowledge who or where you are or become completely unconscious thoughts and feelings that you experience.
Myth 9
Hypnosis may be used to force people to confess to crimes they have committed. First of all, if a person is not open to disclosure of a fact hypnosis will not make it happen. Hypnosis can help a person feel comfortable enough to make revelations, but it is still a conscious choice. Therefore confessions are extracted under hypnosis can not be used in criminal proceedings.
Myth 10
A very dangerous myth, is that hypnosis is a cure all. Hypnosis is useful in conjunction with medical treatment for a number of diseases, but it can not heal.
Hopefully now that you have been provided with the truth about hypnosis, you may choose to discuss how hypnosis can be useful for you.
